Microsoft has decided to close several games studios at Bethesda which will lead to more layoffs. They have not said how many jobs will be lost but we will see the closure of Tango Gameworks (Hi-Fi Rush and The Evil Within developer), Arkane Austin (Redfall developer) and Alpha Dog Games (mobile game Mighty Doom developer). Roundhouse Studios will also be absorbed by ZeniMax Online Studios. Now while this was expected since Microsoft took over Bethesda games studios, one of the studio caught mine and a lot of other people attention on to why would they do this, and that is Tango Gameworks. They released a surprise hit last year with Hi-Fi Rush and there is so much talent there, it would make a lot more sense to ask the team to make a follow up on Hi-Fi Rush - According to this report by Bloomberg the team at Tango Gameworks were going to pitch a Hi-Fi Rush Sequel and wanted to hire more staff. From internal remarks shared with the The Verge, the head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty held a town hall and told employees “We need smaller games that give us prestige and awards” - so the closure of Tango Gameworks seems more baffling from my point of view. Having said that in an email verified by IGN, Matt Booty state that they are to be “prioritising high-impact titles”. One of the reasons that may be behind the closure of these studios may be because there have been reports that their revenue from gaming subscriptions has not increased much over the last couple years. Following the news of this decision by Microsoft to close Tango Gameworks, Steam users are positively review bombing Hi-Fi Rush. More details on closures here.

Nintendo is going to be removing the integration with X/Twitter on 10th June which is following the same from Xbox and PlayStation. This is likely because X/Twitter is going to start charging for using the API. In my experience this is not a great loss as I never used it and I never saw anyone in my feeds use it as well. Asus will be launch a new version of the ROG Ally soon called the ROG Ally X which comes in black. It has the same chipset as the Z1 Extreme and also the same 7inch 48-120hz VRR screen, however we do know that it will boast a bigger battery. While Specs have not been released yet, they have said they want to fix the as many issues as possible. I hope they do fix the SD card overheating issues as out of all the issues that one was a deal breaker for me. Read more here.

Ghost of Tsushima on PC will require a PSN account following the enforcement of the requirement for PSN account for Helldivers 2. However for Helldivers 2, Sony has decided to reverse the decision to enforce the PSN account requirement, this is not likely to happen for Ghost of Tsushima. Even though the account would technically only be required for the online mode, the game will not be sold in countries where you cannot sign up to a PSN account. I feel bad for all those that cannot play this awesome game because they live in the wrong country. More details here.
