Which Wireless Gaming Mouse Should I Buy In 2022?

I have been using the wired Razer Naga Molten for 10 years now solely for gaming since it was first released back in 2011. I have not had any major issues and the build quality is great. However as it has always been wired and attached to my gaming PC, I have always had a secondary mouse for work. Since I bought a new gaming laptop, I wanted to buy a wireless gaming mouse that I could use both with the PC and the laptop. So I have compared the best wireless gaming mice to help myself decide which one is the best choice.

I will be looking at these mice in detail on looks, comfort, portability and gaming. All of these mice are in a similar price range around £100-£130 / $130 - $170 RRP. Also all have very similar tech specs therefore I will only call out something on each mouse if it vastly different from the others. All of these mice have symmetrical design as that is what I personally prefer which is another reason I wanted to upgrade from my current gaming mouse (Razer Naga Molten) as that always had a more ergonomically design. All of these mice also have low click latency and a low lift off distance.

Logitech G Pro Superlight X

The Pro Superlight X has a solid body and comes in 2 colours, black and white. The design is very clean and even though it is a gaming mouse, the clean design allows for it to be used in a office setting without it sticking out. The feel of the mouse in the hand is very nice and fits my hand perfectly. Somehow with the body design they have been able to cater to most hand sizes, my wife who has small hands also finds it fits well in her hands and its super comfortable.

This mouse is the lightest of the bunch coming in at less than 63 grams. If you have been used to a heavier mouse then using a lighter mouse will take some getting used to, especially one as light as this mouse. The feel and comfort though is second to none when using any type of grip. The lightness of the mouse also give it great portability as when you have two kids young kids like me every gram counts. The buttons however do seem a little loose which over time could be a problem if not properly looked after.

The battery lasts around 70 hours of continuous use, so if using for 10 hours of continuous use a day then the battery would last a whole week. I tend use my mouse for work and gaming for about 8 to 10 hours a day of which only a couple hours would be gaming, which meant the battery will last for a lot longer for my type of usage.

Steel Series Aerox 3 Wireless

The Steel Series Aerox 3 Wireless Ghost limited edition is one of the best looking mice on this list. It has been designed with a perforated body. The translucent body of the ghost version and the square holes allow the RGB to illuminate the whole body. You can also get this mouse in an opaque black or white perforated body.

The feel of the mouse is very comfortable however if your grip on the mouse is the palm style grip then you might find the square holes digging into the palm depending on how hard you grip the mouse. The perforated design however does allows it to be very light coming in 68g which means it great for portability and even with all the holes the mouse feels quite solid.

The Aerox 3 can be used via bluetooth and wireless dongle which adds to its portability but also means in bluetooth mode the battery life boasts up to 200 hours. Using the wireless dongle the battery is still great lasting up to 80 hours, however you would have to turn the RGB off to get the maximum hours in either mode. Most tests have shown the battery only last just 24-30 hours with the RGB on.

Razer Viper Ultimate

The Razer Viper Ultimate is one of the best for gaming, especially while FPS gaming where latency can actually matter when playing at a high level. This mouse has the lowest latency of bunch coming in around 5ms.

The texture and feel of this mouse is the best on the list in my opinion, however it does feel just slightly too small in my large hands but this should not be an issue for most people. This mouse has a really thoughtful symmetrical design with two buttons on both sides. The buttons are flat against the body and as buttons are on both sides, then this means that you don't press the buttons by accident however it does make them a little harder to feel and press. You can also buy this mouse with a charging dock which would be placed on the desk making it easier to store and charge.

The look of the mouse is typically razer design, and you can buy it in three different colours (Black, White and Pink) and one Cyberpunk 2077 special edition version which is the best looking version. It also only weighs 74g which is pretty light and allows for great portability as the build quality is really good.

Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm 2

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm 2 is extremely customisable as you can change the mouse buttons and the back plate into a wide variety of colours, you can also mock this on their website. The body can be chosen to be with a perforated honeycomb design or solid and the back plate can also be chosen with a solid or perforated design. They have a huge range of colours including metallic colours. I personally like the mint and white combination for standard colours and green emerald and white combination from the metallic range.

As the body and the back plate the can have a perforated design, this means the mouse can weigh as little as 71g which is very light and with the solid body and solid back plate, it still only weighs 75g. The best part about the customisation is that you can change this at anytime if you buy several covers. This mouse also uses a USB-C connection which allows for cutting down on the amount cables you need to carry for travelling. Overall the Symm 2 is a highly portable mouse.

Battery life is around 80 hours which is one of the best on this list. As for gaming this mouse stands up in own right having a low click latency and feels really nice in the hands with most grip styles. Small hands might find it bit big but for most people there should not be any issues.

Asus ROG Pugio II

The Asus ROG Pugio II is great mice for anyone who wants a slightly heavier mouse, this one also ticks all the boxes in many other areas. One of those areas is that It has a USB-C connection, great for the reduction of micro usb cables.

The mouse feel heavier than the rest but it also feels very sturdy. The sturdiness is a plus on portability however the heaviness is a negative. It also fits nicely in the hand for all types of grips. The mouse comes with extra switches which allows for much more longevity. You can also add or remove the side buttons as they are magnetic which allows for setup customisation.

I really like the look of the mouse with the slightly translucent body allows for the RGB to glow through along with the RGB strip around the bottom gives it a great gamer look and is easily customisable to match the rest of your RGB set up. Unfortunately the RGB does cut down on the battery life however with RGB turned off the battery does last a comparable up to 69 hours.

Which Mouse Did I Chose?

When looking for a mouse its best to try and see how they feel in your hand with the grip you normally use. In the UK one place you can go to is Currys (I am not affiliated with Currys in any way) and see how different mice feel in the hand however I am not sure if they keep these mice out for display as they are wireless. Each mouse is different for everyone due to hand size and grip styles plus everyone has different use cases, it is difficult to recommend one mouse as they all great in different ways.

The two best in my opinion are the Razer Viper Ultimate and the Logitech G Pro X Superlight. The other 3 mice looked great with the RGB on them but not as good as these two when the RGB is turned off, considering the battery life is significantly drained by RGB and the Razer and Logitech mice felt better fits to my hand. The Razer Viper Ultimate really does have it all, it's light, well built, delivers stellar gaming performance and great battery life. The Logitech Pro X Superlight also is the lightest, delivers amazing gaming performance, has a great battery and feels amazing in the hand. Both mice are connected by micro USB to charge which is a little disappointing, I do hope in future generations they upgrade that to USB-C. The Pro X Superlight buttons do feel a little loose and the Viper Ultimate doesn't quite fit my hand as nice as I would like. In the end weighing up the Pros and cons I decided to go with the Logitech G Pro X Superlight as it just fit much better in hand both with the palm and claw grips and I just like the feel of it slightly better than the Razer.
